INITIATORY JOURNEY INTO THE MYTH AND MYSTERY OF THE FEATHERED SERPENTS January 23rd – February 1st,
2005
RIVIERA
MAYA: January 23rd – 28th,
2005 Come and discover
the secret knowledge of the “feathered serpents” and become initiated into the
lore and legend of the Plumed Serpent Quetzalcoatl, also known to the
Mayans as Kukulcan (kukul “feathered,” and can “serpent”).
Our ten-day journey begins on the Yucatan Peninsula where we discover the
ageless knowledge and wisdom of the heavens and the earth represented by the
serpent, the jaguar, and the eagle. It is here in the jungles and on the
beaches of the Yucatan where we prepare ourselves as spiritual warriors for the
initiatory drama that will follow at the “city where men and women
become gods and goddesses”—Teotihuacan, the birthplace of the Fifth Sun.
For the first six
days of journey our stay is in beachfront cabanas at the isolated resort of La
Posada del Capitan Lafitte. Using Lafitte’s as our outpost, we will
explore and experience through experiential exercises, ritual and ceremony the
spiritual wisdom of the “feather serpents.” With miles of uninhabited white
sand beaches and the timeless touch of absolute peace and serenity, we are able
to explore the ageless knowledge and experience the wisdom of the shaman/mystery
teacher in a natural setting of power where you may become one with the
elements. As part of our
initiation and spiritual cleansing, we will travel to the sacred sites of Coba,
Tulum and a “little know” (except to the Curanderos-healers)
sacred jungle site of “jaguar medicine”. All activities/classes are optional
with ample time for individual counseling, swimming, diving/snorkeling and
DOING NOTHING or as we say: hammock time. This pilgrimage of spirit is not only
about initiation and your spiritual development but presents the opportunity
for you to relax, embrace and enjoy life. CAPITAN LAFITTE “The history books
tell us that Captain Jean Lafitte was one of the early 19th
century’s pirate breed operating in the Caribbean. Legend has it that he used
this beach to stash some of his capital gains, having little faith or trust in
the banks of Galveston Island or New Orleans, where he based from time to time.
So, we’ve taken some of that romance and molded it into a modern day outpost,
an escape from the glitz and glitter of Cancun with the simplest of treasures:
an endless beach- the constant of the sea and surf, and the bounty of the reef.
A travel writer, in looking out on Lafitte’s beach, called it “Tahiti East”. In
Lafitte’s dining room the menu abides by the mood: “catch of the day” means
this very day from the constant “aquarium” that is your panorama. Add to this
the accent on fresh fruits and vegetables and you have a dining experience that
spells: Caribbean.” THE “SIZZLE” OF

Pyramid of the Sun - Teotihuacan (Photo by Jim) TEOTIHUACAN—THE CITY OF THE GODS: January 28th – February 1st, 2005 On day six we leave Riviera Maya and travel to the birthplace of Quetzalcoatl, Teotihuacan. It is here where we will be initiated into the transcendental experience of becoming a Quetzalcoatl—a feathered serpent.
Quetzalcoatl was a bridge builder between pairs of
opposites (spirit/matter) and was
identified with the wind as well as Venus known as the Morning Star and the
Evening Star. As the Morning and Evening Star, Quetzalcoatl represents the
symbolic teachings of death and resurrection. As an archetype the Plumed
Serpent represents human beings dual nature: the feathers stand for our divine
or spiritual nature (the Father) and the serpent represents our humanity or
connection to physical creation (the Mother). During our time in Teotihuacan we will explore the magic of the wind through the transformational power of breath and voice while continuing the journey in becoming a transformed human being—a Quetzalcoatl. It is here at “the
City of Gods” where we will also explore the knowledge that Jesus was the
cultural hero, the White Prophet who brought the message of peace, love and
unity to the peoples of the Pacific as well as to the Americas. The hero was
always connected with Venus and was known to the various cultures as Lono
(Hawaiian), Viracocha (South American), Wakea (Polynesian), Pahana
(Hopi), and Quetzalcoatl (Mesoamerican). THE HOTEL VILLAS ARQUEOLOGICAS DE TEOTIHUACAN Our Club Med
accommodations are in a handsome split-level inn, built hacienda-style around a
