… according to the Maya prophecies, the Fifth Sun, our
current age, will come to an end in 2012. It is prophesied that ‘movement’ will
be the cause of the end of the Age. The prophecies tell that it will be a time
of great earthquakes that will literally ‘shake-up’ the world, as we know it.
There will be a cleansing. But then, an awakening and a new earth—a new Age.
To be aware and knowledgeable is the first step in survival
and the resultant renewal. To be otherwise is to be blinded by one’s ego and to
be stupid. Stupidity along with arrogance and fear are three of the souls
enemies. Many times stupidity is the cause of arrogance and fear. A sleeping
spiritual state is a haven for stupidity. Look around and see how many people
are in such a state of spiritual ignorance and poverty. As a person of power we
are aware and knowledgeable and follow our defied heart not our destructive
ego.
The symbol for this Age of the Fifth Sun, as you know, is
called Ollin, which means movement. Symbolically, Ollin refers to
the ‘movement’ of our heart—a deified heart, a divine heart:
The ordinary word for heart was yollotl,
a word derived from ollin, movement. Thus the ordinary human heart is
the moving, pumping organ that keeps us alive; but the heart that can be made by
special efforts in life is called Yoltéotl, or deified. The phrase used
to describe the face that we must make if we are to be truly men is ixtli
in yollotl, which signifies a process whereby heart and face must
combine. The heart must shine through the face before our features become
reliable reflections of ourselves.
Thus heart-making and face-making, the
growth of spiritual strength, were two aspects of a single process which was
the aim of life and which consisted in creating some firm and enduring centre
from which it would be possible to operate as human beings…
The Fifth Sun as well is viewed as the Fifth Direction—the
symbolic center of the four winds of the Mesoamericans. Individually, our
heart/our spiritual sun is at our center and is the core of our being. Could
this all mean that the key to our survival and renewal at the end of this Age
is predicated on us achieving a ‘heart that sees’ and becoming a Feathered
Serpent? I believe it is! (The Return of the Feathered Serpent—Survival and Renewal at the End
of the Age—2004 - 2012 to be published Summer 2005 by Dr. JC Husfelt)
Speaking of stupidity and ignorance, I am ever amazed at the
number of people that supposedly do not follow the tradition of Christianity or
any other religion of salvation but still use the term ‘grace.’ It is simply
amazing to me that so many people can be so unaware and ignorant. Especially
the ones that supposedly teach systems that would be classified as ways of ‘sanctification’
not ‘salvation.’
For your knowledge, the following are the definitions and
meanings of grace, salvation and sanctification. The information is excerpted
from The HarperCollins Dictionary of Religion by Jonathan Z. Smith, Editor,
William Scott Green, Associate Editor and The American Academy of Religion:
- Grace—“a
Christian theological term denoting divine gifts without which human
salvation would be impossible.”
- Salvation—“the
belief that human beings require deliverance. A distinctive trait of some
religions, it is a notion almost entirely absent in others… Christianity:
Christians through the centuries have generally agreed on the three main
features of salvation. First, while the initial fruits of salvation may be
experienced in the present life, its full realization is delayed until the
next. Only in heaven, in the immediate presence of God, will people’s
deepest desires for peace, justice, and fulfillment be completely
satisfied. Second, there are numerous obstacles in the present life that
make attaining heaven difficult, and of themselves people are incapable of
salvation. It is only by the grace of God that these obstacles are
overcome and people are made worthy of God. And third, Jesus Christ is
absolutely decisive for salvation, for it is principally through Christ’s
work that God has made available the grace required to resolve the
problems and contradictions of human existence.”
- Religions
of Salvation—“the class of religions that evidence a sense that the
present world and human beings are not as they should be. In contrast to
religions of sanctification, they teach that struggle against, and
transcendence of, the structures of the world is a worthy goal.”
- Sanctification—“the
ritual process of purification, the procedure for making a person, place,
or thing sacred.”
- Religions
of Sanctification—“the class of religions that evidence a sense that the
present world and human beings are as they should be. In contrast to
religions of salvation, they teach that active maintenance of the
structures of the world is a worthy goal.”
Interesting stuff! However, there is sometime even more
interesting—what is known about the historical Jesus would lend one to believe
that Jesus’ teachings and spiritual practice were truly the teachings and
practices of sanctification not salvation. And I doubt that grace would have
been in his belief system. For further knowledge about the sanctification practices of Jesus, please see my page on Bathing vs. Baptism.
