JANUARY 2003 SPIRITUAL TEACHING
If I were to look into your eyes, what would I see?
If I were to touch your heart, what would I feel?
If I were to hold you, what would you do?
If I were to ask you, are you thirsty?
What would you say?
If I were to ask you, are you hungry?
What would you say?
If I were to ask you, are you cold?
What would you say?
If I were to ask you, have you slept?
What would you say?
If I were to ask you, are you happy?
What would you say?
Do you think with your mind or feel with your heart?
Or is it both?
Do you see life as a burden or as a gift?
Or is it both?
Do you trust?
Or do you fear?
Life is eternal, but this lifetime is short.
What are you doing, where are you going?
A second is an eternity, but the years fly by.
Why is this, I ask you?
Do you know?
Have your words and actions
helped others?
Or harmed them?
Have your words and actions
helped the earth and it’s creatures?
Or harmed them?
Have your words and actions
lightened your heart and the heart of others?
Or darkened them?
Why is this, I ask you?
Do you know?
What will you do?
Let me ask you again.
If I were to look into your eyes, what would I see?
If I were to touch your heart, what would I feel?
If I were to hold you, what would you do?
“Know Thy Self.” This is one
of the most basic spiritual philosophical “charges” of personal growth. It is
the key that will unlock the dungeon door to the unresolved issues of life and
the behaviors, words and actions that are detrimental to one’s self and others.
As you journey on this quest of self-discovery, you will unload the burdens that
you carry and your mask of self-lies will be torn asunder.
“Know Thy Self,” is the first
hundred miles of your quest for the Holy Grail. And it takes you through the
narrow pathways of the dark shadowy root infested forest of self. Do not be fearful or discouraged as within
this forest lay many sparkling mossy glens of love, light and truth. You must
enter and pass through this forest as it is the only pathway that leads to the
island castle, wherein resides the Holy Grail. There is no other choice except
to enter.
However, many chose never to
enter this forest of self-truth, choosing instead the wide and easy path of
illusion. But I ask you, have courage, and enter the forest and “Know Thy
Self.”
