MARCH 2004 SPIRITUAL TEACHING
A Divine Humanity Ishin
Are you familiar with the famous Zen koan by Hakuin; what is
the sound of one hand clapping? Basically, koans are paradoxical statements or
questions. Their purpose being to ‘wake us’ from the linear paradigm that we
create. It is an attempt to guide us in painting a different picture of life.
Koans are meant to help us achieve a spiritual breakthrough. Ko-an comes
from the Chinese kung-an meaning ‘public case.’ Originally, these came
from the question and answer sessions between Chinese Ch’an Buddhist
masters and their disciples.
I have another question for you. It’s not really a koan but
what I call a paradoxical teaching question—a Divine Humanity ishin, which is designed to help our ‘heart see.’
What is the sound of the 7th chakra? (Please see below)
I will answer this ishin in next months teaching. If
you would like to send me your answer to this question, please Contact Us or e-mail us at spirit@divinehumanity.com.
Chakras are energy centers found throughout the human body. I call chakras ‘wheels of fire and light.’ The word itself means ‘wheel’ in Sanskrit, which describes the turning, swirling aspect of these vortexes of energy. The seventh chakra is referred to as the ‘crown’ chakra and is located on the top of our head.
