MARCH SPIRITUAL TEACHING
Heart of the sun
Gaze within
And you will see
What is there?
Flower or weed
Broken or whole
Do not despair
It is all right
Mend if need be
Re-seed and know
Your divine heart
March; a time of cleansing and re-birth, where, from our
human perspective, the sun is metaphorically whole in it’s balance of light and
dark. New beginnings “spring” to our mind as we experience the subtle and overt
awakenings of nature and it’s children. In our yearly seasonal journey of life,
we experience, even though it’s a fleeting moment in time, the external balance
of light and dark on March 21st, the spring equinox. However, this
earthly moment, not even a blink in the totality of time, reminds us of one
important truth. And that is to ever seek balance and harmony in our own personal
journey of life. This then is the path to wholeness, which is the holiness of
oneness.
Many elder cultures believed that the cause of illness was
due to in-balance: within the individual as well as outside the person
reflected in their relationship with family, community and/or nature. And of
course, families, communities, cultures, religions, and nations may also be
classified as “ill” if they are out of balance and do not provide the harmony
necessary for the well-being of all. (Take a moment and list the cultures,
religions and nations that are “ill”, and then list the ways that they are out
of balance. And what do you choose to do with this knowledge?)
As the earliest religious leaders and healers, the shamans,
druids, and kahunas were masters at balance and restoring harmony not only
within the individual but also within the community as well. Looking to the
past, we also discover the importance of “twins” or primordial pairs within the
mythology of many cultures. This balance of two within one, possibly best
represented by the Taoist symbolic imagery of the yin and the yang energies, is
the wayshower to harmony. And love is this harmony, the true nature of the
universe.
Our heart is the balance point between the earthly
energies/issues/woundings and the heavenly energies/issues/woundings. If there
is in-balance in your life surrounding earthly issues/woundings such as sex,
power and greed, it will affect your heart. This pertains as well to the
heavenly issues/woundings of religious abuse, “voice in the world” and SIR
“separation identity reality.” Not surprising then that heart disease is the
number one illness. (If you notice, I used illness not disease, a whole other
spiritual philosophical discussion, which is too broad for this small teaching.)
At this time of heavenly and earthly balance, the spring
equinox, look within yourself and uncover one earthly or heavenly
issue/wounding. And then take this issue/wounding and work with it towards the
self-healing that will help restore the balance, within yourself and within
your heart. (Please see “dropping the stone” as a tool to help you in your own
healing and spiritual growth.)
And most importantly at this time of the year (in fact any
time of the year), smell the flowers and surround yourself with their beauty—a
reflection of your own flower heart.
