THE PRACTICE OF DIVINE HUMANITY
Divine Humanity is a Religion of Spirituality. In other
words, Divine Humanity is a daily religious experience of self, others and
nature that is based on a basic spiritual truth and law that each one of us has
a direct connection to the magic and the mystery of Heaven and Earth. Each one
of us is our own religious teacher, guide, and counselor in a personal journey
of spiritual-light evolution. Our teacher is our heart; our guide is our heart;
our counselor is our heart. Forgiveness from the heavens and the earth is
automatic, however forgiveness of our self and others is from our heart, not
from some dogmatic religious proxy that, very well, may have a hidden agenda.
Divine Humanity is based on openness, while organized religion
is based on a closed, secret keeping, patriarchal hierarchy of authority, power
and materialistic greed. Divine Humanity is based on truthfully looking at
one’s self, or one’s eyes, in the mirror and then determining from one’s heart
how divine and how human one is thinking and behaving. Divine Humanity is based
on self-responsibility. You are the priest or the priestess responsible for
your own actions, thoughts and re-actions living in a societal world that
encourages opposite behaviors such as greed and cover-up and a culture that
preaches self-interest, even if it ruins land and families, over
self-responsibility. In our present world, Divine Humanity requires courage to
stay true to our heart and to “all our relations.” (“All our relations” is the
rest of humanity, the creatures and the living things of this earth.)
PRACTICE OF THE PRESENT (Please see the April Spiritual Teaching for the practice of "Entering the Path.")
Each day is a new day as a Divine Human, a new moment and a
new experience of creation. A simple thank you to the earth, to heaven and to
“all our relations,” may be all that is needed to honor and begin our day. Or
we may choose to do a full ritualistic honoring through meditation and prayer.
It is our choice.
Each dawn of each day brings spiritual renewal and the opportunity for further knowledge and wisdom. Each precious moment of the day we walk in beauty, as we are open to continuing enlightenment, which very often happens as a result of the twists and the turns of our life.
Life is our religion. Throughout the day be aware and
practice the “Three Pillars of Light”:
- See
the world with Baby Eyes. Eyes that are non-judgmental and tolerant, that
views the world with awe and excitement and recognizes the oneness of the light and
the dark of existence.
- True
Talk. Listening more often than talking. Hear, understand and perceive. And when speaking, talking our
truth from our heart.
- Flower
Heart. Express love from our heart and let ourself and others view the
beauty and the divine perfection that is the true essence of our heart.
The daily practice of Divine Humanity requires us to be in
the present moment and not lost in the illusionary egocentric play of one's self. This alone is difficult. If our mind constantly “chatters”
(the constant flow of thoughts usually attached to the past or the future), we
need to establish a new paradigm of existence, since the world is a construct
of our thoughts (beliefs, assumptions, attitudes and expectations). To create a new pattern, begin by setting aside time during
the day for the simple practice of deep breathing while consciously using each
one of your senses—smell, taste, hear, feel and see with the eyes of a baby.
This is termed a state of “immovable” awareness and attention where you smell something but do
not attach to the various judgments that will arise in your mind that are all
connected with your past experience of this very same smell. This level of self-realization opens the passageway to true reality of soul.
Throughout the day, communicate, either silently or aloud,
to other living things that you encounter in your passage through life. Imagine
for a moment, a world without songbirds, and now, without the other sounds of
nature. The world is constantly singing and talking to each one of us. Why then
are we silent to the world? Sing a song of reply to the birds that greet you as
you leave your home or apartment. Tell a flower how beautiful it is and then
smell it. Divine Humanity refers to this as blessing…every thought, ever word is
a prayer to the earth and to the heavens. But do not grasp onto what you are
doing. Happiness comes from the doing not the grasping.
On a daily basis, come to understanding not through blind faith but through the merging and equilibrium of intuition (contemplation, vision) and reason (observation, analysis). To deny one or the other is sheer folly.
Let nature be your teacher. Learn the patience of a tree,
the focus of a bee and the resilience of the bamboo. Sit by a stream, by the
ocean and learn about life, the ebb and the flow. Experience the elements: Let
the sun warm you, the rains cleanse you and the winds purify you. Feel the
firmness of the earth and be one with yourself, it begins here.
Rejoice in your Divinity and honor the light of God, the Great Mystery, within yourself. And rejoice in the knowledge that not only is God within you, you are within God. Feel and love this unity, this oneness with the rest of humanity.
Rejoice in your Humanity and savor the dawn of a new day, a lingering kiss of one that you love and the twinkling eyes of a child so young. And feel and love this diversity that is called Humanity.
Honor each day, your connection and partnership with the earth and with humanity. Be kind. If you are warring over religion and earthly finite
power, lay down your weapons and forgive. Search your heart, and you will see,
that you have been mislead by others in their quest for control and power. If
you have been abused, speak your truth. This day is your day.
Bless the food and the water that you put into your sacred
body. A simple thank you, and bless you, for giving your life for my life, that
is all that is necessary to say or to think. Life is eternal, so in truth, no
life has really been lost.
Throw out your schedules and your “palm pilots.” Use your mind and possibly your memory will never fade away. Spend time with your family. Eat together and take a walk together. What is more important to you—work or family?
At dusk, as the sun sets, be responsible for your thoughts and actions of the
day. It has been your choice, your will, do not blame others or life. Forgive,
what needs to be forgiven. Release, what needs to be released. Bless, what
needs to be blessed. Learn from today. Did you laugh? And did you cry? Discover
balance within your life and never feel shame for that which you are. Enter
into the dreamland and sleep with a clear and strong heart and mind.
PRACTICE OF THE PAST
A person practicing Divine Humanity lives in the present only visiting the past to heal and to learn life’s lessons.
Still the battles within yourself… forgive and release. What are you holding onto, refusing to let go? Life, in the mystery that it is, very often is painful. Physical pain in the moment is often times difficult to bear. But the pain of the past—the emotional, mental and spiritual woundings—wears and tears at the very core fabric of our soul. Betrayals and broken hearts, many times by the very ones that are suppose to honor us and keep us safe from harms way. Never blame yourself for others abuse. No one, I repeat; no one, priest or parent, has the right to abuse another Divine Human. Do not accept shame but seek out your wounding, heal it and let it go. Release and you will be stronger and your light will be brighter. Do not worry about the one that caused the abuse. Do not hold onto to them to get “even” or in the fear that they will abuse again. Talk your truth to the legal authorities, no matter how long it has been since the abuse. Your truth may stop another from having to live with, what you have had to live with.
Healing the past is like climbing a ladder—one step at a time. Begin with small woundings that you are still carrying. And how do you know if you are still clinging to an old incident? Talk about it… what happened? If you can do so with no emotion and no blame or shame, you have released the wounding. And you are stronger and brighter for it. If not, then the process of forgiveness is needed. For an example of one practice of forgiveness, please see Dropping the Stone.
PRACTICE OF THE FUTURE
A person practicing Divine Humanity lives in the present only visiting the future to envision the great potentialities of life. A life spent focusing on the future by worrying about money, security and retirement is a life wasted, as far as the spirit is concerned. Live life now, and focus on the potentialities of the immediate and near future. Are you expressing your “voice” to the world? That intrinsic gift of soul that you have within you, which you could share with the world. When was the last time that you experienced the bliss of your creative spirit? The world needs your intrinsic worth; please share it.
GOD as defined by Divine Humanity:
‘God, the One and Oneness of all, the Mystery of Mystery‘s, our parent, creator and guardian, which is within us and that is outside of us, transcends our abilities even as divine human beings to comprehend the essence of what is the greatest mystery of all. God, the Creator, surpasses our dualistic view of reality and is neither male nor female but is the Mystery of all that there is. God is love not fear, immanent, and transcendent.’
In beauty may we dwell.
In beauty may we walk.
In beauty may our male kindred dwell.
In beauty may our female kindred dwell.
In beauty may it rain on our young men.
In beauty may it rain on our young women.
In beauty may it rain on our chiefs.
In beauty may it rain on us.
In beauty may our corn grow.
In the trail of pollen may it rain.
In beauty all around us, may it rain.
In beauty may we walk.
The beauty is restored.
The beauty is restored.
The beauty is restored.
The beauty is restored.
