VERNON JEFFERY
Vernon Jeffery first met Rev. Dr. J.C. Husfelt, on January 12, 1985, in a sleepy little town located at the farthest reaches of northern New England. The two had come together to share in the legend and lore of Japan’s most storied folk heroes, the Shinobi warriors. Vern came to that first meeting, already in possession of a fascination with the martial arts. He was a practitioner of Judo, as well as both Shotokan and Kenpo karate. The historical richness and comprehensive nature of Dr. Husfelt’s approach to the martial arts left an immediate and lasting impression upon Vern. Now two decades later, he still maintains a close relationship with Dr. Husfelt.
Known widely, as incredibly down-to-earth in his approach to generating results, Vern’s training style is more like that of a user-friendly drill sergeant, or a football coach, than that of a typical martial arts instructor. He occasionally serves as a guide an advisor for our special programs and journeys, Vern’s unique perspective and experience is always welcome at the Morning Star Institute.
With a degree in exercise physiology, Vern has served as an athletic trainer and performance enhancement specialist in some of the nation’s finest health club establishments, including the Lakeshore Athletic Club in Chicago, and Orlando Florida’s RDV Sportsplex. He also sits on the technical advisory board of a nutritional research and development firm that promotes breakthrough technologies intended for the benefit of hunger plagued, developing countries, as well as our nations military and space exploration programs.
Vernon Jeffery is a gifted leader and talented military instructor. Working for his own private firm, he provides specialized training in dynamic fitness, personal mobility, and close quarter battle (CQB) to tier-one, special missions units, who are currently serving in the global war on terrorism.
Vern’s military resume reads like a catalog of what is offered by the Department of Defense. He has served with light infantry, ranger, military intelligence, special operations, and combat search and rescue units.
His continued involvement with Dr. Husfelt after all of these years is a living embodiment of an old Chinese Saying:
“A Sifu for one day is a Sifu for life.”
