The Journey of a Hero
A Mystic Warrior Apprenticeship
As a collective the human race has entered interesting and
very unsettled times. Rumors and more rumors are afloat to this being the End
Times. There is no doubt in my mind that as a race we are on the cusp of a new
age usually referred to as the Age of Aquarius—the foretold Golden Age.
Fear and uncertainty seem to be a common theme among people.
But there are legends that in this time of need heroes will arise to give life
to the new Golden Age.
According to the sacred texts of the Hindu’s, we are
ending the cycle of Ages with our present one called Kali Yuga or the Dark Age.
This Dark Age of war and greed extols only the materialistic aspects of life by
worshipping its idol—money.
The question posed is: will humanity survive this Dark Age?
According to Hesiod, a Greek epic poet, at the end of the
Dark Age a cycle of restoration will occur, which he called the heroic cycle or
the age of heroes. This generation of
heroes would restore the balance of life and usher in a new golden cycle.
Are you one of these heroes?
A hero, male or female, is an individual who did what others
around them could not, or would not, do. The heroic actions of that individual
change the world forever. The most important heroes are those who are credited
with making the greatest improvements to society. In this way, a hero
represents a period of change in the history of humanity; the world was made a
better place because of the actions of that person or persons.
The true hero has always answered the call to action or adventure. This is the first step in becoming a hero in one’s own life. Hero comes from the Greek word hêrôs. The idea of a great adventure, such as a quest or pilgrimage into the unknown or to an unknown land, has always appealed to the mythic hero’s of Greece.
The world needs heroes. Our question to you is this:
Will you answer the call to action and adventure?
Are you a hero?
Mystic Warrior
Each of our apprentices begins as a Spiritual Warrior. Our
personal goal of apprenticeship is to guide you so that you may be re-born as a
Heroic Mystic Warrior.
Our Two Year Apprenticeship consists of two
intensive trainings each year in the spring and in the summer. Trainings begin
on a Wednesday evening and complete early Sunday morning. Lodging is
included.
Training
Our Two Year Mystic Warrior Apprenticeship is based on
over four decades of exhaustive research and successful, practical experience.
This research and experience has lead us to believe that martial, spiritual and mystical
studies and abilities interpenetrate just as we believe that spirit and matter,
our sacred self and profane self and body and mind interpenetrate and are
non-dual. This means that a holistic approach to training would include
in-depth spiritual and mystical training as well as martial training with an emphasis on
tharros, which means courage and aphobia or fearlessness.
However, no previous martial arts experience is
necessary even though part of the training is physical and includes old school
martial training. In addition, our training is very experiential, esoteric and
will involve initiatory experiences of expanded consciousness and death and
re-birth. We will practice various psychophysical techniques of the dynamic
interpenetration of spirit and matter and focused energy through the power of
the voice.
A portion of our training is conducted out in nature, among the elements. At times we will train under the stars, in streams and waterfalls, and around raging fires. Our training progressively challenges the mental and physical tenacity of participants in an effort to set the stage for a peak, transformational experience to occur within each student. The goal here is to have the mystical warrior experience serve as a major, positive psychological anchor for participants; months and even years into the future.

The Hero’s
Quest
A common spiritual, mystical and heroic theme found within many
cultures is the ‘quest.’ This quest usually takes place out in
nature and not within a human-made structure. It is a journey into the unknown
and the mysteries of life and the natural world.
The quest may take numerous forms from the mythological to
an actual personal or communal experience such as a rite of passage. The hero
and the quest are one and the same and cannot be separated. And this quest
involves the unknown, sacrifice and suffering. Many times it’s
transformational and redemptive.
In western mythology the most well known quests are Arthur
and his knights seeking the Holy Grail, the voyage of Odysseus,
Prometheus’ quest for fire and the ‘labours’ of Heracles. The
name of Heracles is identified with power, heroism and majesty. There was no ‘labour
that was beyond the power of Heracles.’
Heracles was a demi-god, endowed with mystical gifts but
also with human weaknesses. Just as each of us has mystical gifts that need
awakening, we each have human weaknesses, which we need to overcome. Both of
these, awakening our gifts and overcoming our weaknesses, are the goal of our
Mystical Warrior Apprenticeship.
The feats of Heracles are countless and equally numberless
the stories about them. But the best known are those referred to as ‘The
Twelve Labours of Heracles.’ You as an Apprentice will also face these
same twelve labours in a symbolic but physical way.
Do you have the courage to be a hero and complete the Twelve
Labours?
Of the twelve labours, the first six took place in the
Peloponnese while the other six were scattered across the globe: from Crete to
Scythia, from Thrace
to the end of the West and all the way to the underworld itself.
An Apprentice's first six labours will occur during the first
year. During the second year four more labours will be overcome. And the final
two….

Our
Mentors—the Ancient Spartans
In these trying times what type of spirit and mind can keep
us going and provide us with hope and renewal? I believe in a Spartan Spirit, a
spirit that can give us the courage, the power, the perseverance and commitment
to become a hero. Of all the legendary heroes of the past, we recognize the
Spartans as elite warrior heroes that reached the ultimate of spirit and mind
training.
The self-sacrifice of the Spartans at the battle of Thermopylae is often used as a symbol of courage against
overwhelming odds. What we must never lose sight of is the fact that above
everything else Thermopylae was about the love
of freedom! And love of freedom comes far above mere survival because it gives
survival a meaning.
Leonidas, his Lacedemonian (Spartan) Knights and the other
Greek warriors demonstrated to all at Thermopylae that the freedom of a
society, whose majority is usually silent, unaware or complacently seduced by
the ‘status quo’ of a state, is saved almost always by the courage
of a few who dare to fight against an overwhelming enemy, against something
that seems unavoidable, against all odds, against what is predicted, against
what seems advisable and wise for most people.
The Spartan Spirit is not about being bare-chested with
muscles bulging, red cloak flapping in the breeze and arrogance on the brow. It
is about an inner strength, an ability to talk truth and a strong mind. It is a
willingness to acknowledge fear but not letting the fear control the body, mind
and spirit. It is about loyalty, honor and the greater good.

The Power of Kiai Jutsu
Secret Teachings Revealed
Mystic Warrior Training
There is great power locked away within secret names and
sacred words. The proper knowledge, intent and intonation of certain words will
produce vibrations that may harm or heal. To the esoteric Buddhists this power
is reflected in a ‘seed syllable.’
Seeds portray the vibrational imagery of life unseen. From
the primal explosion of a seed comes the potentiality within. And thus it is so
with the concept of the ‘seed syllable.’ Breaths of power, a manifestation in
form, all are contained within the seed. A sound primal in structure but then
again creative creation supreme and this is the secret of truth and light. But it
is not to be grasped but only to be experience with the heart/mind.
This is the power of Kiai Jutsu. When aroused the voice may ‘roar like lions’ producing a
thunderous strike of spirit lightning. But only for the ones that have awakened
this power within.
These secrets
will be revealed to you as a Mystic Warrior Apprentice.
