WINTER SOLSTICE 2005 Part 2
The ending of the Mesoamerican
fifth sun is pretty well documented as occurring on the Winter Solstice of
2012. In Mayan myth, the
winter solstice sun corresponds to the deity One Hunahpu, also known as First Father. The Mayan Sacred Book,
the Popol
Vuh, written in mythic prose, sets the stage for the Hero Twins’ father’s (One Hunahpu—recognized
as the sun in some accounts and the morning star in others) rebirth,
thus beginning a new World Age.
But (and this is a big but) there
is no reference to the beginning of the Sixth Sun. Now, turning to the
enigmatic question of the beginning date of the Age of Aquarius, we are again
presented with a time that is unknown. Answers to this question range from:
‘we are already there’ to the future date of 2600 CE. These wide
and wild fluctuations of dating a space and time event, which happens to be
more of a divine/spiritual occurrence than a purely physical manifestation, are
due to the exact location and separation of constellations. Many forget in
their assumptions that creation does not operate under the rules of what I call
‘immediate duality.’ On this beautiful and, interestingly enough,
forgiving earth, most of us live where we experience day light and night
darkness in a twenty-four hour period. But separating the light from the dark
are the times of dawn and dusk—transitional times. In fact, these are the
times of the greatest spirit power—we do ‘burnings’ (feeding
the spirits—Heaven) at dusk and bathings (submersion baptisms—Earth)
at dawn.
Transitional periods of time,
which are the most powerful in their transformational quality, are natural
truths from our earthly divine human perspective. There are truly no lines of
demarcation or boundaries on earth or in heaven, except for fearful human
mentally imposed ones. There is no set line separating the constellation Pisces
from Aquarius. In addition, there is no such thing as linear time in creation.
Linear time is a human paradigm of fear.
Therefore, I would encourage
people not to view as truth that there are set dates for the beginning or
ending of the coming Age, whatever name you may assign to it. I would encourage
you as well to focus on the concept of transitional time and what it may mean
to you, family/loved ones, and the earth. And the possibility that we have
already entered these transitional times or will enter it in the not too
distant future. Could it be around 2012?
In addition, accompanying these
transitional times are the shifting of the solstice ‘gates.’ The
majority of people still refer to the Winter Solstice as belonging to Capricorn
and the Summer Solstice being under the realm of Cancer. In reality the Winter
Solstice is under the influence of Sagittarius and the Summer Solstice is in the
realm of Gemini. Things do have a tendency to change after 2000 years.
Remembering the spiritual
truth—‘as above so below/as below so above,’ we can observe
the importance to humanity and to the earth and heavens of the shifting of
solstice ‘gates.’ Competitive Capricorn’s measure of success
is achieved through one thing, material wealth (possessions). Influencing this
materialistic quest is the work ethic of Saturn—Capricorn’s ruling
planet. Capricorn views life as limited with ‘so little’ time.
Sounds a tad bit like our Christmas season—materialistic, limited for the
majority and ‘so little time left’ to buy/consume (have you ever
noticed the increase at this time of the year in credit card solicitations).
Capricorn has provided the perfect
gatekeeper for the past 2000 years, but the times are a changing, and in my
view for the better. Capricorn is one of the champions of Capitalism that
destructive paradigm that robs and rapes the earth and the ‘have
nots.’ And let us not forget that Christianity, with its dogma and
doctrine and developed during the Roman Empire,
took on the essence of Saturn (God as a cold judgmental perfectionist father
paradigm) and it’s Cross of Matter.
Now, the gateway is opening under
the gate-keeping joy of Sagittarius—ruled by Jupiter, which represents
truth, wisdom, justice and joy. Sagittarius aspires one to greatness and the
seeking of truth. While Capricorn is concerned with matters of the earth,
Sagittarius is truly seeking spirit and the expansion of universal awareness.
Sagittarius is linked with the mythic centaur—Chiron, the ‘wounded
healer.’ The ‘wounded healer’ is also the persona of the
shaman. Sagittarius with its creative imagination “is associated with
philosophy, the quest for an inclusive world-view that can weld the often
confusing fragments of life into a meaningful whole.”
This is the gods and goddesses gatekeeper, our wounded centaur, who sacrificed
his own concerns for the sake of the greater world:
“Chiron, the king of the
centaurs, was a philosopher, teacher and healer. Wounded in the foot by one of
Hercules’ poisoned arrows, he could not heal himself. But, being
immortal, neither could he simply die. Chiron chose to die, but for a higher purpose—his sacrifice made it
possible for Prometheus, the great awakener, to return to the service of
humanity…. Unlike the other centaurs, who were primarily driven by their
animal instincts and passions, Chiron had transcended his primal self and dwelt
principally in his god-nature.”
Interesting times are upon us. Chiron teaches us to
transcend our base human self (first chakra), which will then awaken our true human
and divine self. During this season of the Winter Solstice rejoice in the joy of living and the opening of your light to the
world.
It seems a most appropriate time for the tale of The Lion,
the Witch and the Wardrobe to be brought to the ‘big screen.’ The
creative imagination of Sagittarius’ season is alive and well and reflected in C.S. Lewis’ melting pot of fantasy and folklore
as Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie discover a mysterious fur-packed
closet that is really a gateway into a wonderland of creatures awaiting the
return of the messianic lion, Aslan, who will end the ice witch’s reign
of everlasting winter—ah the return of the sun to all things.
And for each of us, let us embrace the child-like
ever-seeking spirit of Sagittarius and enter through the opening gateway that
will transport us to a wondrous realm of magic and joy where the sun ever
shines. And that magical realm is… our heart - our true self as a Divine Human
Being.
Happy Holidays, Happy Solstice and Merry Christmas to one and all. The Morning Star
Each Age is determined by locating the sun’s
position at the time of the Spring Equinox with each Age lasting approximately
2160 years. This is the time that it takes for the sun to
“progress” backwards (our view from earth) through one
constellation. However, the ancient Hebrews and Mayas determined their Ages by
the conjunctions of Jupiter and Saturn.
